Juan Pierre Traded To White Sox

Juan Pierre

The White Sox acquired Juan Pierre from the Dodgers for two minor league pitchers. The Dodgers will take on roughly half of Pierre’s salary. Pierre has $18.5MM remaining on his deal over the next 2 years($10MM next year and $8.5MM in 2011).

Thoughts:
While it’s nice to get some sort of return for Pierre, I was really hoping he would be used to acquire talent that would interest another team in a trade for an MLB ready pitcher.  Is that still possible? Sure. How about we use those pitchers + prospects to make a trade with the Reds for Bronson Arrayo + Brandon Phillips, or maybe try and work something with the Braves for Javier Vasquez. This would still offer us the option to roll the dice on Erik Bedard and really have a solid lineup.
