Dodgers News: Kenta Maeda Headed to Injury List After Dominant Start

The Dodgers announced a plethora of moves on what figured at first to be a quiet Thursday off day. Notably, Kenta Maeda was placed on the 10-day IL.

This news comes to us from Bill Plunkett of the OC Register on twitter.

Apparently, while we were all grinning about Maeda’s performance; he took a foul ball off his thigh in his final plate apperance. Now – I’ve scoured the internet for ‘Maeda thigh’ to find video of this incident.

In case you’re wondering about a ‘phantom injury’, this one really happened. Because we are Dodgers Nation, we went to the tape. Therefore, the injury came when Maeda led off the bottom of sixth inning and in an 0-1 count.

It’s important to note that Maeda had one of the best games of his career on Wednesday night. In a 2-0 shutout of the Paders, Maeda struck out 12 hitters. He also drove in both runs and collected two hits.

Unfortunately for the Dodgers, they will need to do some shuffling within the rotation once again while Maeda mends his injury and gets healthy.

  1. This guy is incredible, he strikes out 12 batters, has a foul ball go off his thigh and heads to the IL, must be made of glass, you know a boxer who has a glass jaw.

  2. Made of glass? You don’t know the exact impact intensity or location; there is soft tissue in there that connects directly to groin muscles which can easily put someone on the bench. So please don’t jump to conclusions; we are all just speculating civilians in the matter.

  3. This move is brilliant! He was next in line for a break( they give all the starters a break) and with off days they don’t need one starter and instead replace him with a position player.
