Dodgers Video: Team Presented With NL Championship Rings

The Los Angeles Dodgers received their hardware for their hard work from the 2018 season on Saturday night. Albeit, it wasn’t the kind of hardware that every player hopes for when he begins his big league career. Still, it’s important to recognize that the Dodgers were the only National league team playing in the 2018 World Series.

Because of this, Mark Walter presented the team with their NL Championship rings on Saturday before their contest with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Los Angeles Dodgers official twitter posted a nice video for us to see the gathering.

Surely, the video received some twitter comments that let everyone know the team fell short of the ultimate goal. It’s no secret that the Dodgers haven’t won ‘the big ring’ that counts since 1988. While this is true, Walter explained to the team why it’s important to celebrate this measure of success with some jewelry.

“Winning a pennant is always hard, and always deserves to be celebrated. That’s why we give out rings. All of you deserve these rings, and you deserve to wear them with pride for the rest of your life.”

It’s odd – I don’t know if I have seen a player wear league championship rings before. That seems almost like a talking piece they keep in their top drawer or something. For that matter, it doesn’t seem like I see a ton of players wear their World Series rings.

How do you feel about a team (the Dodgers) being awarded for winning their respective league? No, they didn’t win the World Series last season. However, is it worth some hardware for getting there?

  1. I didn’t even know the players received a ring for winning the respective league pennant. I was educated in the NHL(National Hockey League), the players don’t even want to touch the respective Western or Eastern Conference trophy, Just the Stanley Cup! When the LA Kings the Western Conference, I forget which King was being photographed with the trophy, but he was leaning-over, looking like he didn’t even want to be in the photo with the Western Conference trophy w/commissioner Gary Bettman.

    1. Those 2 kings teams that won had the hearts of champions it was great to watch and great to see an LA team have that personality

  2. The team is trying to not think about the past. I just want them to get that first one I think they will take off after that, never having to hear all the bs anymore and actually feeling like champions
