RUMORS: 11/11
1. DeRosa a possibility? SI.com’s Jon Heyman tweets that utility-man Mark DeRosa is drawing interest from eight different clubs. Those clubs are the Dodgers, Rangers, Nationals, Yankees, Mariners, Orioles, Phillies, and Giants.
The Dodgers would use DeRosa at second base. He played third base primarily last season while with the Indians and Cardinals, but played second before that. He hit .250, with 23 home runs in 139 games.
Jon’s Take: Pass on this one. I think that we can do much better. If the Dodgers can go for the Ellis-for-Callaspo trade it would be for the best. That way the money can be spent on a starter.
2. Jackson back to the Dodgers? There are talks at the GM Meetings about the Tigers possibly dealing Edwin Jackson, and rumor has it the Dodgers are interested in bringing back their former super prospect. In case you don’t remember him, Jackson made his debut back in 2003 against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Arizona, and he defeated none other than Randy Johnson. In 2006, he was traded along with Chuck Tiffany to the Tampa Bay Rays, in exchange for Lance Carter and Danys Baez. Jackson is now 26, and is coming off his best season, pitching for the Detroit Tigers, posting a record of 13-9, with a 3.62 ERA.
Rumor has it that should the Dodgers acquire Jackson, it might cost them George Sherrill. The Tigers were interested in Sherrill at the trade deadline, but he ended up a Dodger.
Jon’s Take: Sherrill helped in big ways, but I do not see him getting better for the Dodgers. He has no smoke, meaning that if he doesn’t bring any nasty stuff on any given day, he will be hit (e.g. NLCS). If Ned Colletti is presented with this trade, he should immediately accept it. Both players are arbitration eligible, and stand to make around $2.5 million dollars each in 2010.

dont know if the will be enough for the tigers…I agree that if Sherrill and another low level prospect would net us Jackson then it should be done…but Sherrill is a money set up man
