3 Moves Dodgers Need to Make This Offseason

As the team gears up for a possible three-peat, the Los Angeles Dodgers have several moves to make to better their chances for another World Series run.

This piece will detail a three-pronged plan to better achieve the goal of back-to-back-to-back World Series titles.

Assuming these areas of concern are addressed, the Dodgers will yet again enter as favorites to repeat.

1. Sign Devin Williams

There’s no secret the Dodgers need a closer — and particularly one from the right side given the inordinate amount of lefties projected to be in the ‘pen this upcoming season.

Williams fits the bill perfectly. He’s highly experienced from his time with the Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Yankees. While his ERA from this past season may scare some people away, a deep dive into his analytics detail a dominant pitcher, particularly in the second half of the season. William limits hard contact and is elite in garnering strikeouts.

The St. Louis native likely won’t cost as much as Edwin Diaz will on the open market. The Dodgers can pitch Williams in entering a situation where he can win at the highest level among multiple future Hall of Fame teammates while factoring as one of the team’s most significant relievers and also getting handsomely paid to perform this task. What else could any reliever ask for?

2. Add an Impact Outfielder

This is also a huge point of emphasis for the front office. Whether it be through free agency (less likely) or the trade market (more likely), the Dodgers need to address one of their starting outfield positions.

Cody Bellinger, Harrison Bader, and Kyle Tucker are the free agent names most available as possible fits, whereas the trade market may net the Dodgers one of Lars Nootbar, Steven Kwan, Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu, or another name.

Possessing a farm system flush with high-end prospects, the team should be able to acquire some starter-level outfielder. As is always the case with the Dodgers, the cost versus value discussion will be at the forefront of trade discussions.

3. Address Infield Depth Concerns

Max Muncy will turn 36 next August, and is in the final year of his contract. Miguel Rojas (36) and Kiké Hernández (34) are both currently free agents.

The team desperately needs to get younger and more athletic, and it would be a prudent decision to start here given the ages of Muncy, Freddie Freeman (36), and Mookie Betts (33).

Brendan Donovan of the St. Louis Cardinals has been rumored as a possible trade target. Tommy Edman did recently have surgery on an ankle that had been bothering him for the past two years. The Dodgers will surely slow play his return to the field, and as such the second base spot could be up for grabs heading into 2026.

Between Hyeseong Kim, Alex Freeland, and a possible option not yet with the organization, the Dodgers need to flesh out all options with the hopes of adding some juice to an aging core.

  1. It’s interesting how all these commenter’s talk about what the Dodgers Must do. I think it’s all click bait. The Dodgers have Edman, Teo, Pages, Call, Rushing and Ward all able to play the outfield. If they re-sign Kike that will be another possibility. They won with Conforto being a negative so simply taking him out of the line up is a plus. Edman has had ankle surgery and can play all outfield spots as well as Pages. They have at least 5 amazing prospects in the outfield due in a year to two years.
Pitching they have Stewart, Graterol and Hurt due back. I believe they will sign another top reliever as Scott was and is a waste IMHO. I hear rumors the Dodgers may sign the young Korean player that can play the infield. I absolutely will be shocked if they sign any outfielder to a long term contract (Over two years). I realize prospects are just that but as the Dodgers have so many very highly rated players coming up one or two are bound to be terrific.
