The Los Angeles Dodgers were recently pegged to sign top free agent infielder Bo Bichette, according to a new prediction from Bleacher Report.
It would mark the second splash of the offseason for the three-peat hopefuls, further cementing them as a favorite to win the World Series.
On paper, the Dodgers really need quality outfield options that can provide additional depth at the spot, though the infield has been a spot that has quietly required help.
Bichette’s electric bat would boost the entire lineup, potentially more than top outfield free agents Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger.
Dodgers Nation’s own Doug McKain provided five reasons as to why signing Bichette makes sense.
1. Offensive Upgrade
Last season, he ended up hitting .311/.357/.483 in 139 games of action, totalling 18 home runs and 94 RBIs.
He hit a three-run bomb off Shohei Ohtani in Game 7 of the World Series, during which he played hurt and still gutted out quality performances in the Fall Classic.
Bichette would slot into the fifth spot in the lineup easily, helping Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, and Shohei Ohtani in terms of generating offense.
2. Dodgers Get Younger
The Los Angeles Dodgers are getting older, especially in the infield. Miguel Rojas, Max Muncy, and Freddie Freeman occupy prominent spots in the infield, all of whom are in their mid-to-late 30s.
Bichette, while not a premier defender, is young enough to maintain a steady baseline, especially if he moves to second base — a less physically demanding move.

3. An Interesting Character
Free agent Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger are not exactly bubbling personalities; they are characters who tend to take a back seat.
Bichette, on the other hand, is a bit more enigmatic, and he would likely become a fan favorite quickly and a top-selling jersey.
His propensity to deliver in big moments would also fill a void left by former Dodgers Austin Barnes and Chris Taylor.
“It shows you that he is not afraid of the moment, he is not afraid of the big stage, and that is what he would be on here in LA,” Dodgers Nation’s very own Doug McKain said on his show.

4. Blue Jays Fans’ Reaction
The Dodgers and Blue Jays are a budding rivalry at this point, and nabbing one of their core players would only help further create a clear division between the fanbases.
Dodgers fans would relish the chance to rub their new signing in Toronto fans’ faces, especially if they met in another World Series and he made a clutch play.
5. Defensive Cohesion
Bichette can play all over the infield, including third base, second base, and shortstop, helping manager Dave Roberts with his lineup flexibility.
He can help cover any injuries or lackluster performances without a significant drop in defensive performance. His weakest spot is shortstop, though if Mookie Betts can lock down the position, Bichette becomes a better defender overall, and his versatility can be used.
