Bryan Reynolds Rumors: Dodgers Trade Target Unlikely to be Moved This Offseason

The Dodgers’ need for an outfielder is well known by now. Ideally, LA ends up acquiring a star-level centerfielder capable of matching or improving upon the production Cody Bellinger has generated over the last few seasons.

A top target for the Dodgers is Pirates All-Star outfielder Bryan Reynolds. The 27 year old outfielder has spent his entire career with Pittsburgh, earning one All-Star berth along the way. Warlier this offseason he told the Pirate front office that he’d like to be traded and that got clubs all around the league excited to say the least.

The Pirates have made it known that trading for him will come at a high price. They’ve also maintained that it’s not really in their plans to move the centerfielder.

That fact was a topic of a recent New York Post article…

One interested team exec summed up the Pirates requests in two words: “unrealistic asks.” Another team’s exec says there’s nothing happening now but they hold hope for spring.

With a talent like Reynolds of course other teams are in the mix with the Dodgers. More demand continues to drive up the price but regardless the chances of being moved remain slim (via The Athletic).

The Yankees, Dodgers, Mariners and Marlins are among the other clubs interested in Reynolds, but executives throughout baseball continue to express skepticism the Pirates will move him before Opening Day.

The Dodgers would not only have to trade at least two top prospects (likely more), they would also likely want to explore a contract extension with the star outfielder.

As it stands, expect LA to run with some rotation of Trayce Thompson, Chris Taylor, and rookie James Outman in center. Veteran outfielder and World Series champion Jason Heyward could get into the mix in spring training as well.
