Carlos Correa Rumors: Scenario Exists Where SS Ends Up Back on Free Agent Market
Well, well, well. What do we have here? Just when we thought the Carlos Correa saga was finally over, we were pulled right back in, with even more drama.
If you haven’t been keeping up with the Correa saga, I’ll give you a quick update:
Correa signs with the San Francisco Giants. Giants don’t like something in his physical. Sides go to renegotiate. Correa instead signs a slightly smaller deal with the New York Mets. Mets owner Steve Cohen talks about deal prematurely. Correa has his physical. Mets also don’t like something in the physical. Talks in limbo.
Okay, now that you’re all caught up, here’s the latest update that throws even more confusion into the story. On Thursday, MLB insider Jon Heyman of the New York Post reported that Correa’s camp was negotiating with at least one other team. Then, on Friday, two insiders — Andy Martino of SNY and Will Sammon of The Athletic — reported that it was even worse than that. Here was Martino’s report:
“Over the past few days, the Mets have grown ‘very frustrated’ with Carlos Correa negotiations, in the words of one source with direct knowledge of the team’s thinking, and are now considering walking away altogether.”
And here was Sammon’s report:
