Cody Bellinger Rumors: Rockies Reportedly in on Former Dodgers Outfielder
There may be a sleeper team interested in signing Cody Bellinger this offseason. The Colorado Rockies are reportedly showing interest in the Dodgers’ former MVP, who has at least four other teams checking in on him.
Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post wrote about the Rockies’ potential interest.
“Gary, sources tell me that the Rockies are indeed interested in Bellinger, but only for a one-year deal. That puts them in the running because all signs point to the outfielder looking for a one-year, bounce-back contract to set him up for a bigger deal down the road.”
It is important to note that he went on to say in his opinion, he doesn’t believe the team will sign Bellinger. But they’re at least showing interest, which could, at the very least, drive up the price.
Bellinger is coming off another down year, but everyone knows what he can do. Just three years ago, he hit 47 home runs and 115 RBIs on his way to a National League MVP Award.
Whether he gets back to that form or not, he’s still a plus defender with above-average speed. He also is well-known among baseball fans, and could be a real draw for a smaller market team.
