Corey Seager Named To Arizona Fall League All-Star Team
After a successful season with High-A Rancho Cucamonga and Double-A Chattanooga, Corey Seager continued his season with the Glendale Desert Dogs in the Arizona Fall League.
Seager earned California League MVP honors for his time with the Quakes and he didn’t slow down once joining the Lookouts, hitting .345/.381/.534 with 27 RBIs in his first experience at the Double-A level.
In 13 games with the Desert Dodgers, Seager owns a slash of .235/.345/.412 with six doubles, one triple and seven RBIs and was named to the West Division All-Star team. While Seager is joined on the Desert Dogs by Scott Schebler, Darnell Sweeney and Mike Thomas, he’s the lone Dodger representative to make the team.
Seager and Julio Urias played in the Futures Game this season, though the shortstop only managed to go 0-for-1 with a hit by pitch. Seager’s was also honored by the Dodgers, who named him the co-winner of the Branch Rickey Award, which recognizes the top Minor League prospect.
Seager’s second time around in the AFL has come with more success than last season when he hit below .200. While the shortstop had a frustrating close to the 2013 season, he said he learned from his struggles and used them to help sustain success.
The All-Star Game will be played Saturday at 5 p.m. PT and be broadcast on MLB Network and streamed live on MLB.com.
