Daniel Hudson Announces Retirement After Dodgers 2024 World Series Win
Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Daniel Hudson announced his retirement following the conclusion of the 2024 World Series, per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register.
“This was the only reason I came back — to go out on top,” Hudson said. “And that’s what’s happening.”
Hudson, 37, officially retires as a two-time World Series champion. Hudson secured the final out of the 2019 World Series as a member of the Washington Nationals. Then, he played a crucial role in L.A.’s 2024 season and postseason run.
Hudson made 65 appearances with the Dodgers in 2024 after making just three appearances in 2023 as he came back from a torn ACL in 2022. Hudson had a 3.00 ERA across those 65 appearances, and then made seven appearances this postseason, five of them scoreless.
Hudson was drafted in 2008 and debuted in 2009 with the Chicago White Sox. He spent time with the White Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, Pittsburgh Pirates, Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays, Nationals, and San Diego Padres.
He spent the final three years of his career with the Dodgers, where he was able to ride off into the sunset as a World Series champion.
