Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and first baseman Freddie Freeman spoke about the Dodgers’ status within MLB and whether or not they considered themselves a dynasty.
The Dodgers have been top contenders in MLB since Roberts’ appointment in 2016, and even before then. They’ve won the division in every season but one, during which they still won 106 games, won five pennants and two World Series. The Dodgers have an opportunity to take their third World Series championship this decade after sweeping the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS.
“I think winning two championships within 10 years is a dynasty. But three — then it’s undisputed,” Roberts said. “I guess we’re vying to be undisputed.”

The Dodgers are easily the most dominant team in MLB over the last 10 years, the only thing missing is more championships. They have had the best record in baseball in two of the last five years, and reached triple digit wins in three of those seasons. Freeman believes the championships are the piece missing for the Dodgers to be called a dynasty.
“I do believe you’ve got to win more than two in five years to be considered a dynasty, I think,” Freeman said.
“We’ll see. Let’s just keep winning more and more and more. Three in [six] years, I guess you could call it a dynasty.”

The Dodgers don’t have their opponent for the World Series as of yet, but they are sure to be heavy favorites against both the Seattle Mariners and the Toronto Blue Jays. The Mariners and Blue Jays can play up to two more games in the ALCS before the World Series kicks off, while the Dodgers will have plenty of time to rest before fighting to call themselves a ‘dynasty’ in the Fall Classic.
The World Series begins Friday, though there is no set time for the opening game.
