Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed he removed Shohei Ohtani from Wednesday’s game against the Colorado Rockies because of the comebacker that hit him square in the thigh during the fourth inning of LA’s 8-3 loss.

Roberts said Ohtani was “getting stiff” as the game went on and felt soreness in his thigh, leading to his removal from the game in the eighth inning.
Ohtani was hit by a 93.7 mph line drive in the leg in the fourth inning. He was able to remain in the game as a pitcher to finish the inning, and then had a plate appearance in the top of the fifth inning, where he drew a walk.
However, the Dodgers replaced Ohtani with Alex Call in the top of the eighth inning when his spot came back up in the lineup.

Will Shohei Ohtani Play on Friday vs Padres?
With Ohtani already scheduled to take Thursday off, Roberts was asked if Ohtani will play for Friday’s series opener against the San Diego Padres.
Roberts initially said he was “hopeful,” before upgrading it to “confident” that Ohtani will play.
Shohei Ohtani Provides Update on Injury
Ohtani also spoke after the loss and provided an update on his injury.
“Right now, feels pretty good,” Ohtani said through interpreter Will Ireton. “I’m gonna do everything in my abilities to make sure it doesn’t affect me going forward.”
Ohtani said his “intention” is to return for Friday’s series opener against the San Diego Padres. He also said he was thankful it hit him in the thigh and not in the knee.
“I think we avoided worst-case scenario.”
