The Los Angeles Dodgers begin their Freeway Series against the Los Angeles Angels Monday night in Anaheim, but a notable player will not be in the lineup.

Teoscar Hernandez will not play in the series opener against the Halos, and manager Dave Roberts explained why.
“We’ve obviously got a big series coming up, I wanted to make sure that he still stays in a good place,” Roberts said, referring to the upcoming rivalry series against the San Diego Padres this weekend. “I think he’s certainly been battling some mechanical [issues]. He’s not right. I just think today is a good for him to use today as a work day. We’re gonna need him, but I do think that he’s not right where he needs to be.
“I just think that specifically versus right-handed pitching, I don’t see as many competitive at-bats as we’ve seen. I think it’s a mechanical thing, not seeing it well, but we’re gonna need him. There’s just a lot more since he came back from that injury.”
The plan is for Hernandez to play five out of the Dodgers’ six games this week, per Roberts. Therefore, fans can expect the outfielder to be in the LA lineup for the remainder of the series with the Angels.
Hernandez is hitting .254 this season with 18 home runs, 69 runs batted in, and an OPS of .753. His production has not been the same as last year; however, as Roberts pointed out, it appears a host of injuries have played a role in Hernandez’s struggles this season.
The Dodgers are entering a pivotal portion of the season with the division race tightening. The Angels swept the Dodgers in May, and the best case scenario for LA would be executing a sweep of their own over the crosstown rivals.
Every win counts as the Dodgers and Padres clash over the weekend, and the results of the rivalry series will surely shake up the division.

We keep Conforte and get rid of CT three. Who strikes out every time he gets up to the plate. Won’t run out for a ball because he might get his uniform dirty. And then we have Hernandez swings everything that is down and outside of the plate. And then pothead we just switched everything that comes across the plate. We’re outside of the plate cause he’s a moron too. Why do we have Rogers as a coach. We’ve got these three idiots that don’t know how to play baseball. You wanna get on base they can’t make up their mind where to run or how to run and get caught throw out or run downs.
First off we don’t have Rogers as a coach, We have Dave Roberts as the coach and he takes his marching orders from Friedman. There is where the blame really lies. We don’t need flamethrowers whose arms can’t take it. We need pitchers who can pitch with all kinds of weapons and not always by rotating the ball at high RPM’s. The Dodgers say they don’t know why pitchers are being injured. Well, when you put the emphasis on spin, you put the the stress on the elbow and shoulder. Why did All the Dodger greats, including Kershaw, last so long? Because they taught the OVERHAND CURVE, not all the other angles, they used the fastball to set up batters, and stayed away from high rotation, high stress pitches like sliders .Sinkers are great and so are forkball//Splitters. Teach the changeup like all the great pitchers had. Throwing hard all the time is a recipe for damaged arms and dhoulders and kinds now days start a lot sooner throwing pitches their joints are not developed for, and that is just a fact.
Roberts is such a bitch complaining about Ohtani Conforto among others. Quit your fucking bitching and whining. All he cares is about himself. He wants to be like Dusty Baker and Bruce Bochy who are, or great managers. The difference is that, those 2 gentlemen never complained about their ballplayers in public. Roberts should have a meeting with those 2 gentlemen about keeping it in the clubhouse and not in public. Yeesh what an idiot…..
0 wins, 4 losses, 2 games to be played against the anemic Angels. Way to go Dodgers. So disappointed with their indifference, and Roberts has absolutely no answers other than inaccurate injury updates and sitting a player. FFS.
People need to realize that this is probably not the year we win the world series. Can we get hot and win it all, yes that’s certainly possible. But the body of evidence between leaving runners in scoring position and our bullpen blowing saves is pretty clear. We are basically a 500 record team. Yes it’s depressing but the way our team has been playing is not the way we should be playing.
Roberts says Teo Hernandez is struggling so he benched him . But the no good son of a bitch leaves Michael Comforto in every day rain or shine. Where is the logic Roberts you dumb ass
The boyz better grab a gear and get going. The whole team is slumping….do we need new hitting coaches? Should have got a real closer, and an outfield bat. We keep picking up fixer uppers….and coaches can’t fix. We gambled on conforto and lost. Cut your loses and dfa him.Ohtania needs to have a way better eye, swinging at bad pitches, take the walk then steal a base. Roberts has no clue ,and gives up when 3 runs down and brings in a c- bull pen.
As a really old Dodger fan, I don’t recall witnessing all the frustrations from Dodger fans that I see today. As a really old Dodger fan, I sympathize and agree with all of them. Sometimes, in any business, you just get out maneuvered. In the case of the Dodgers, they are getting out maneuvered, at this point, by the San Diego Padres. I DO NOT like admitting that! However, look at the trade deadline and compare the differences of what the Padres did and what the Dodgers didn’t do. Go back further this season, and see what the Dodgers have done to solidify various positions. For example, left field (pathetic), second base, and, here’s a surprise — bullpen! Vince S is correct in the way that the Dodgers train their young pitchers. How many years does it take for the Dodgers to realize that their approach to the pitching staff doesn’t work? I’m just a really old frustrated Dodger fan. Wait til next year.
