Dodger Dogs Will Be Served During Seoul Series: Report
Dodgers fans in South Korea will reportedly have an opportunity to try the famous Dodger Dog at the Seoul Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres.
Major League Baseball is doing its best to bring some flair from the United States to the fans in Seoul.
According to the news report that was translated into English, “The MLB and the two clubs decided to invite home stadium food and beverage companies to the Seoul Series. The companies will bring the food and beverage ingredients sold by MLB and sell them to spectators at Gocheok Dome.”
Back in Oct. 2023, Los Angeles’ ABC7 reported that Dodger Stadium sells more than 2.8 million hot dogs per season, which averages out to around 23,000 per game.
The Gocheok Dome holds less than 17,000 spectators for a baseball game.
Papa Cantella’s was awarded the contract for the new Dodger Dogs ahead of the 2021 season after Farmer John’s 50-year run.
The family-owned business based in Vernon, which is known for Italian sausage, had to recreate its own version of iconic frank.
“We knew our only play was to recreate the Dodger Dog,” Tony Cantella told ABC7. “We figured others would show their own branded products, but we knew being a Los Angeles company that our value was going to be our heritage and we could give that famous dog back to all the customers.”
The Dodgers also mandate that vendors source from local suppliers and local purveyors.
It is unknown how many Dodger Dogs will be available per game. If they’re as popular in South Korea as they are in Los Angeles, the fans will leave clamoring for more.
