Dodgers 2014 Minor League Positional Review: On The Mound

Yimi Garcia
PAGES: 1 | 2 | 3

While only starting pitchers were listed in the top 10, here are relievers to round things out:

Yimi Garcia was on the big club briefly in September and has been one of the steadiest performers in the Minors for the Dodgers since he signed. He’ll likely enter Spring Training on the roster bubble and should again see time with the Dodgers in 2015.

Daniel Coulombe adds lefty depth to the Dodgers’ stable, as he proved by earning a September callup like Garcia. The short southpaw showed three solid pitches to keep hitters off balance and can handle righties as well as lefties.

Carlos Frias spot-started for the Dodgers and had a forgettable outing at Dodger Stadium that lasted less than an inning, but he provides valuable depth as a swingman/long reliever should the Juan Nicasio experiment fail.

Pedro Baez, the converted third baseman, quickly became a favorite of Don Mattingly, appearing in 20 games during his debut season. The burly righty works almost exclusively with a fastball that sits in the mid 90s, but needs to develop a second pitch to keep hitters honest.

Jacob Rhame is another name to remember. The 2013 sixth-rounder spent all of 2014 in Low-A Great Lakes but could move multiple levels this upcoming season. The right-hander has touched 100 mph with his fastball and compliments it with a hard breaking ball.

  1. I see we have few pitchers in the minor league, but they all have lots to grow on. Maybe one or two can make the deffrence this year good luck men and always be a Dodger Fan for Life. God Bless you all and Good Luck over 55 years as a Dodger fan. Best of Luck Mr. McLeod.
