After a five-game Minor-League rehab assignment and playing catch at Dodger Stadium on Sunday, veteran relief pitcher Joel Peralta was activated off the 15-day disabled list Monday. Additionally, Ian Thomas was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

To clear room for Peralta and Thomas on the active roster, Daniel Coulombe and Matt West were both optioned back to Oklahoma City. The Thomas announcement came hours after the previous roster moves were made official as the left-hander was delayed in arriving at Wrigley Field. It left open the possibility the Dodgers would play Monday’s game one man short.

Coulombe was the temporary answer to the Dodgers working with a short bullpen. He was recalled June 18 and allowed a combined three runs over three innings in two appearances over his third sting with the Dodgers this season.

West joined the Dodgers on Saturday and appeared in two games against the San Francisco Giants. The 26-year-old right-hander threw a combined three innings and recorded two strikeouts while allowing two hits.

Thomas, who last pitched Wednesday, could provide give the Dodgers with a long relief option. It was a role Coulombe filled and one which required him to throw 57 pitches over his two appearances. The Dodgers acquired Thomas in their trade with the Atlanta Braves, and he allowed four runs over three innings in a June 2 appearance at Coors Field.

Peralta threw 4.2 innings during his time with High-A Rancho Cucamonga (three games) and the OKC Dodgers (two games). He allowed four runs on six hits, but said Sunday his focus was on being able to successfully pitch again as opposed to results from his rehab assignments. “I feel good and I’m hitting my spots,” he said.

Peralta’s return provides the Dodgers with a fresh right-hander in the bullpen. With Pedro Baez still on the disabled list, the club leaned heavily on Yimi Garcia and Minor-League options to mixed results. The 39-year-old Peralta tossed 5.2 scoreless innings and has three saves with four strikeouts prior to being placed on the disabled list April 26.
