Dodgers: AJ Pollock Cracks the Top 10 Left Fielders List

The Dodgers go into the 2022 season in a very fortunate position. The off-season loss of Corey Seager was offset by the subsequent signing of Freddie Freeman to a 6-year deal. So for a much lower cost, they seem to have an overall better roster. That also accounts for the loss of bullpen members like Joe Kelly and Kenley Jansen.

But the current position that Andrew Friedman has put this team in allows for plenty of depth. The Dodgers added in Hanser Alberto, and Gavin Lux is now in a place where he will likely be coming off of the bench.

In short, this Dodgers team is stacked. They’re loaded in the outfield as well, with 2 former MVPs in Cody Bellinger and Mookie Betts. But don’t sleep on the third outfielder.

This week, AJ Pollock was named to The Shredder’s top 10 left fielder list. The veteran outfielder came in at number at number 8 on the list, much higher than anyone anticipated.

Granted, it’s not the best list. They had Joey Gallo in there at number two, so take it for what it is. But there is no denying the strides that Pollock took last season. The Dodgers left fielder cranked a career-high 21 homeruns in 2021, compiling a career-high .892 OPS.

So the Dodgers third outfielder is truly a weapon, even if most people around the league don’t think of him as one. This lineup is crazy stacked, and a guy that good will likely be batting around the 8th spot. Wild.

  1. AJ Pollock was probably our most steadiest outfielder at the plate last year, considering that Betts had a down year with injuries, and Bellinger still hasn’t figured out any consistency. We’ll actually need the other 2, Bellinger and Betts to get back to full swing.

  2. Unfortunately, Bellinger might already be back to “full swing”. How far do you go with him? He’s had over a year.
