Dodgers: AJ Pollock Gets Back At His Old Team in LA Loss

The Dodgers didn’t stand much of a chance against Michael Kopech and the White Sox on Tuesday night. The hard-throwing righty came out and fired 6 shutout innings and allowed just 1 base hit all night. He struck out 8 batters and never looked to be under any sort of stress.

But one moment in the 6th had to hurt Dodgers fans. For starters, it was another bad bullpen decision by Dave Roberts. Add in the fact that it came against a former favorite in AJ Pollock, and it was the perfect recipe for a disaster.

Roberts went with David Price after 2 batters singled off of Phil Bickford. With 2 outs and a lefty coming up, Doc went to his southpaw. But Tony La Russa countered with former Dodgers outfielder AJ Pollock, and he didn’t miss his pitch.

Pollock doubled down the rightfield line to put the Sox on top. The Dodgers bullpen would go on to allow 2 more runs to come across in the inning and the offense couldn’t get it going late. That led to another loss for Los Angeles.

“It’s good to get a win against anyone, but yeah, that’s a good ballclub over there. I know that’s a tough team. A little extra special for sure.” – AJ Pollock

AJ had a career year in 2021 before the Dodgers traded him this spring for Craig Kimbrel. He crushed 21 homeruns and drove in 69 runs in what turned out to be his best season with Los Angeles. And he is missed, even if his numbers arent that great this year.

  1. Can’t be mad at Pollock. I was sad to see him leave and am still a fan….just not against the Dodgers.

  2. Was a great moment in that game. LaRussa counters Dave’s ill advised pitching change by sending out AJ. And Pollock delivers on the first pitch. A thing of beauty !
