Dodgers: Alex Verdugo Likely Headed For Rehab Assignment Next Week

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts released some good news regarding injured outfielder Alex Verdugo on Friday.

Verdugo has been on the IL since early August with an oblique injury. Before sustaining the injury, however, he was putting together an impressive rookie season, batting .294 with 12 home runs and a .817 OPS.

The Dodgers certainly hope he can continue that performance upon his return and hopefully carry it over into the postseason. Verdugo has been involved in a number of important moments this season, including a few walk-offs, and is likely to be a valuable asset in clutch situations.

I’m currently a junior at Pomona College in Claremont, CA, and I have a passion for sports journalism. I grew up in the LA area and am a diehard fan of the Dodgers, Lakers, Rams, UCLA, Kings. My favorite Dodgers memory was watching Kershaw tear up after the team won the 2017 NLCS and advanced to the World Series for the first time in his career. After college, I plan on either pursuing a career as a sports journalist or working in sports law.
