Dodgers: Alex Vesia Shares His Reaction To Finding Out He Was Traded to LA

Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia has been one of the most consistent pitchers L.A. has had in their bullpen. Vesia has spent the last two seasons in L.A. but was a Miami Marlins draft pick in 2018 in the 17th round with the 507 overall pick.

He was called up in 2020 but was in for a rude awakening as in five games he pitched in, he posted an 18.69 ERA, allowing seven hits, ten runs, nine earned runs, three home runs, and only five strikeouts in 4.1 innings pitched.

In the 2021 offseason, he was dealt to the Dodgers for Dylan Floro, and Vesia shared his reaction in a recent interview. Let’s just say he was happy to come to Los Angeles.

I’d be ecstatic, too, if I found out I was going to a winning organization. The comparison from his brief stint in 2020 to his time as a Dodger is night and day. In his first season as a Dodger, Vesia recorded a 3-1 record with a significant decrease in his ERA dropping to 2.25, struck out 54 batters, and only allowed ten earned runs in 40 innings pitched and 41 games.

The 26-year-old was lights out in 2022 earning himself a 1.12 WHIP and a career-high 79 strikeouts out of the pen with a 5-0 record.

Once again, the Dodgers find someone they bring the best out of and make them into a core piece on a championship team.

The Dodgers are the best at finding players’ strengths and helping them use that to their best ability.

We’re happy to have Vesia on the squad. We can’t wait to see what else he has in store for the 2023 season.
