Dodgers and KC to Wear Vintage Jerseys to Honor Negro Leagues & Jackie Robinson

The Dodgers will take on the Royals this afternoon for the second game of the three-game series in Kansas City. Before first pitch last night, the Royals honored the late Vin Scully with a touching in-stadium tribute. Today, both the Dodgers and Royals will pay their respects to another icon in Jackie Robinson as well as honor the rich history of the Negro Leagues.

LA will be wearing the Brooklyn Dodgers 1955 jerseys, with the Royals donning 1945 Kansas City Monarchs jerseys – both jerseys that Robinson wore during his professional playing career.



The Dodgers unveiled the jerseys a few hours before first pitch.

Jerseys, hats, batting helmets, and more from today’s game will be auctioned off with all proceeds going to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum which is based in Kansas City.

Members of the 2022 Dodgers team and coaching staff, including manager Dave Roberts, Clayton Kershaw, Trayce Thompson, and others, paid a special visit to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum to learn more about a league whose impact wasn’t just on the field.

According to to the museum’s website, today’s game is being recognized as the “Salute to the Negro Leagues’ and as part of the tribute, the first 10,000 fans at Kauffman Stadium will receive a Kanas City Monarch’s commemorative pin.

First pitch is set for 4:10PM PT. Andrew Heaney is on the mound for the Dodgers, with Brad Keller getting the ball for the Royals.
