Dodgers’ Bats Wake Up After Monday’s Shutout

After the Dodgers were shut out on Monday in Game 1 of the series against the Cubs, their bats came alive at the top of the order in yesterday’s victory. In last night’s late-inning surge, the top of the lineup was able to put runs on the board to give the Dodgers a 5-0 victory for Game 2.

The Dodgers capitalized on the Cubs’ bullpen after Arrieta pitched seven strong innings. Chase Utley, Corey Seager, and Adrian Gonzalez combined for six out of the Dodgers’ eight hits on the night, fueling the offense. Gonzalez’s clutch single in the eighth broke the tie, scoring Utley and starting a rally. Kendrick followed with a sack fly, scoring Seager. Seager continued with a 3-run homer in the ninth, giving the Dodgers some insurance runs going into the bottom of the inning.
