Dodgers’ Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow Meeting With Dr. Neal ElAttrache as Injuries Linger

Los Angeles Dodgers star pitcher Blake Snell will be visiting with Dr. Neal ElAttrache early next week. Snell has been sidelined for over a month due to a shoulder issue, with his last appearance coming on April 2.

Snell was supposed to start throwing again soon, but has seen setback after setback in his recovery. Los Angeles likely wants to be cautious with the star pitcher, thus the visit to the team doctors.

Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register reported the news on social media.

The left-hander has only appeared in two games this season for the Dodgers, posting an ERA of 2.00 over nine innings worked. Snell was brought in this offseason to provide the Los Angeles pitching staff with a shutdown left-hander, but injuries have taken their toll so far.

The Dodgers are hopeful that Snell’s visit with the team doctors won’t be more than a check-in. But there is some concern that he hasn’t been able to start throwing just yet.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts couldn’t offer more insight into the reason for the delay from Snell.

“I guess I can answer that question more once he sees our team doctors,” Roberts said.

In comparison, right-hander Tyler Glasnow will also be visiting with the doctors, but he has started throwing as planned. If Snell is forced to miss any more significant time, it could be a massive blow to the Dodgers’ overall chances this year.

When the two-time Cy Young winner was first put on the injured list April 6, there was little concern about him. But with there being no end in sight for the star left-hander, the Dodgers may be faced with a tough reality.

Los Angeles has overcome a lot of injuries to pitchers this season already, but there was always hope that Snell would eventually return. It remains to be seen how the meeting with the doctors will go, but Snell has seen plenty of injuries take over in the past.
