Dodgers Brighten the Day For Children’s Hospital Patients With Virtual Party, Mookie, Turner & More!

The Los Angeles Dodgers held a virtual zoom party for young fans at UCLA’s Mattel Children’s Hospital to recognize National Childhood Cancer Awareness month and in honor of MLB’s Childhood Cancer Awareness Day. Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, AJ Pollock, Brusdar Graterol, and Chris Taylor virtually met with fans, held Q & A sessions and were even quizzed in a game of Dodgers Jeopardy.

Chris Taylor participated in a Q&A, while Trea Turner and Mookie Betts were quizzed in a game of jeopardy. Brusdar Graterol played “this or that,” while kids “guessed the picture” with AJ Pollock. The children, otherwise unable to leave their hospital rooms, enjoyed the special opportunity to interact with the Dodger players, as evidenced by a screen of grinning faces during a rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”

After the event, 10-year-old Andrew was thrilled by the opportunity to talk to CT3

“It was so amazing to get to talk to the players personally! I got to ask Chris Taylor if he has ever been to a national park. He told me he hasn’t but loves the outdoors and hiking, and would like to visit Yellowstone!”

In a statement, Kelli Carroll, director of the Chase Child Life Program, shared appreciation for the Dodgers doing this event for the hospital.

“Our patients are always so excited to get to meet and interact with the Dodger players. It brings a little bit of the outside world into their hospital room. Our virtual playroom and events such as this one continue to be so important for the wellbeing of our patients as the pandemic continues. “We’re so grateful to the Dodgers for spending a little bit of their day with us.”

The Dodgers, as usual, continue to be the best of the best when it comes to giving back to those in need.
