Dodgers Broadcaster has Hilarious Response to Padres Juan Soto Question

As everyone expected, any team that was to acquire Juan Soto would be chalking up a pretty expensive deal.

It was San Diego that came away with the Soto sweepstakes while also picking up first baseman Josh Bell from Washington by trading shortstop C.J. Abrams, starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore and outfielder Robert Hassell II.

Now, the Padres have created a “Big Three” of their own with Soto, Machado and Tatis Jr. but they also are backed by Joe Musgrove, Blake Snell, Mike Clevinger, Yu Darvish, Sean Manaea, and three-time NL Reliever of the Year, Josh Hader on the talented San Diego pitching staff.

That’s a star studded roster but must be costing the Padres quite a ton. Following the Soto trade, the Padres now have a total payroll of $213.65 million, according to Spotrac ,which has doubled their payroll since 2019.

In a recent clip, Dodgers television analyst Dontrelle Willis, poked fun at just how much Soto is costing San Diego.

The Gaslamp Quarter located in San Diego is known for its great night life, amazing food, but also it’s excessively high prices. Home to Flemings and Greenhouse Prime Steakhouse, Gaslamp Quarter symbolizes exactly what the Padres have become with their most expensive roster ever.
