Dodgers: Catcher Chad Wallach Claimed on Waivers By the Angels

The Dodgers are going to need to find some catching depth in the coming days. After trading Keibert Ruiz to the Nationals at the deadline, they added Chad Wallach as a minor league option should the need arise.

But the Dodgers just lost Wallach on waivers today. The Angels claimed the catcher and he will report to their Triple-A team in Salt Lake. For the moment, Los Angeles only has Will Smith and Austin Barnes on their 40-man roster.

There are certainly options that they could consider, but the most likely scenario is them adding someone on waivers or via free agency. Wallach appeared in just 1 game for Oklahoma City after being claimed by LA last week.

The Dodgers once again lost in extra-innings on Friday night in Los Angeles. It was their 12th extras loss of the season and they’ve managed to squeak out just 1 win beyond the 9th inning. But Dave Roberts really could not give an answer as to why they’ve been so bad in those situations.

Remember that fan that got in the way of Cody Bellinger catching the foul ball against the Astros? Well, Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly wants him to know that he forgives him. Even if it led to a Carlos Correa homerun later.

Trea Turner is joining the team and is set to play all over the field. But Dodgers manager Dave Roberts clarified that the position that he would see the most time at is second base. He’s set to start there on Saturday against the Angels.
