Dodgers: Chris Taylor and Zach McKinstry Held Out of the Lineup Again Tonight

The Dodgers offense is going to need to find a spark tonight in Los Angeles. One day after losing a 1-run game, they will once again have to go with a few alternates in the lineup. They will continue to rest 2 guys who have been an integral part of the offense early on in the year.

Zach McKinstry and Chris Taylor were both forced to sit out the home opener on Thursday evening with sore backs. The Dodgers released the lineup for Friday evening’s game and both utility players are once again riding the pine.

Max Muncy will play second base tonight and Edwin Rios gets the start at first. Luke Raley will once again play in right field as the Dodgers struggle to keep guys healthy. AJ Pollock does not hit righties very well but he will also need to start in left due to the lack of roster health.

The loss of McKinstry and Taylor is huge for the first 2 games of the season. CT wasn’t putting up the best numbers but was also OPS’ing .818 with 9 runs driven in. McKinstry has slashed .296/.328/.556 with a .883 OPS to start the year for the Dodgers.

For the moment, the Dodgers also have Cody Bellinger and Gavin Lux on the injured list. That means there are 4 positions that will not have everyday players starting there on Friday evening. Not exactly the way that you want to matchup with a team like the Padres.

Especially with Yu Darvish on the mound for San Diego.

Dave Roberts later clarified that both players are considered day-to-day and that he does not expect them to be used in the game tonight. They are currently considering putting McKinstry on the injured list.
