Dodgers: Civil Rights, MLB Failures, and More | Full Interview with Former GM Fred Claire
World Champion general manager Fred Claire was nice enough to join us for a greater conversation about many important topics.
Perhaps far and away the most important topic is the state of the nation and powerful BLM movement making waves from coast to coast. Fred was a man that was close friends with Civil Rights pioneers like Jackie Robinson, Don Newcombe, and Roy Campanella. The former GM shares stories and the words of Jack, as well as the acknowledgment that not enough has been done since.
In baseball talk, Fred rips into MLB leadership as they stare the “greatest mistake of their lives” right in the eyes. He talks about his time living through seven different work stoppages and the struggles in finding labor peace today. Additionally, he looks at the lack of trust in these labor disputes.
As the GM of the last Dodgers title team in 1988, Fred knows about building a championship team. We asked his thoughts about the 2017 Cheating Astros and he did not mince words.
