The Los Angeles Dodgers secured a consecutive World Series title in epic Game 7 fashion. The showdown was also the final game of future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw’s illustrious career.
The three-time Cy Young award winner took time to reflect on his final appearance at Dodger Stadium during the unforgettable 18-inning classic that was Game 3 of the World Series.

“It’s a weird thought, of like, ‘This is your last game ever there,’” Kershaw said. “And not a sad thought. Honestly, just a grateful thought. Just like, ‘Man, we spent a lot of great times here.’”
Kershaw was deployed from the bullpen in relief during the 12th inning of what would end up being an 18-inning classic to decide Game 3.
He entered in an incredibly tense, two-out, bases loaded situation, but after eight pitches and a nifty defensive play from Tommy Edman, the future Hall of Famer got out of the jam.
After Game 5 of the World Series, despite a Dodgers loss and taking a 3-2 deficit into Toronto, Kershaw took time to soak in the moment and stroll around Dodger Stadium one last time.
“I just started thinking about it when the game ended,” Kershaw said. “I was like, ‘Man, I might as well walk across this thing one more time.’”
Kershaw left the game of baseball as a champion with the Dodgers going into an intense Game 7 against the Blue Jays. It was the third championship he has earned over the course of his career, and a storybook ending to the 18 years he has put into the game.
