Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw praised fellow starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto following his appearance in Game 7 of the World Series after throwing six innings in Game 6 the day prior.
Yamamoto closed the game for the Dodgers, pitching 2.2 innings without allowing a run. The right-hander made three appearances in the World Series, allowing just two runs through 17.2 innings on his way to his first World Series MVP award.

“I don’t think you’ll ever see what you saw Yoshi do tonight. That was probably the most gutsy, ballsy thing any guy has ever done. He’s used to pitching on a week’s rest the whole season. For him to come in and say he’s willing to do that and throw not just one inning but – what was it, (2.2 innings) whatever it was? You can’t even describe that.”
Kershaw has come in on short rest for the Dodgers in the postseason during his 18 seasons in MLB, coming in on minimal days of rest during the World Series in 2017 and 2018, however acknowledged Yamamoto’s outstanding achievement this season.

“I’ve done some short rest stuff (in the playoffs). I’ve pitched on one day rest. I’ve never done no day’s rest. … (Yamamoto) is amazing. He really is.”
Kershaw is set to retire now that the World Series is over, and will close his career with the Dodgers after a fantastic career. The 2025 World Series is the third Kershaw has won in the last six seasons, and he will end his career with a fantastic set of accolades.

SD Padres were not born yet. Use to live south of the border and then came to US. To me, despite so many great players in the history of the Dodgers, this is the best team ever
