Dodgers: Cody Bellinger, Clayton Kershaw, & Kiké Hernandez Win Made Up MLB Awards
This almost feels like an intro to the old ABC series “Whose Line is it Anyway?” Recently, MLB.com released some not-so-prestigious awards where everything’s made up and the points don’t matter.
With the real awards already all handed out, MLB.com’s Michael Clair saw an opportunity to expand the slate of award options as well as add a little levity to the 2020 season. On his list of new awards, three Dodgers took home these non-existent prizes.
Cody Bellinger
Perhaps the best award on this list, Bellinger took home the coveted (?) “Meme of the Year” award. As Clair notes, with Belli, this is one of those if you know, you know moments. The perpetually confused former MVP — a real award — had his chance to shine in the postseason with a number of notable moments caught on camera that the internet memed.

In fact, an internet friend of ours even capitalized on the long-running Cody gag with merch.

Cody Bellinger: proud recipient of the first ever Meme of the Year award. Note: he is not high at the games.
Kiké Hernandez
Enrique has had himself an eventful 2020. He announced he was going to be a girl dad. He won a World Series. And he even grew a sick mustache. Moreover, now he can call it an award-winning mustache. Yes, Kiké takes home the “Best Quarantine Mustache” award from MLB.com.

As we all took up new hobbies in the early part of the covid lockdown (part 1), growing facial hair jumped way up on the list for many guys. While he was back to clean-shaven before the end of the season, there was still enough service time on the ‘stache to earn him this highly sought after award.
Clayton Kershaw
The most wholesome award of the three Dodgers who took home an honor from this award series belongs to Clayton Edward Kershaw. The LA ace finally brought home a World Series after 13 seasons of trying. With this, MLB.com’s Michael Clair handed Kersh the “Legacy Made” award for his dominant postseason run in 2020.

And there you have it. Something fun different weird to fill our days with more reminders of Dodger baseball! Pitchers and catchers report in three months.
