Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Can’t Wait for World Series Game 7

The Los Angeles Dodgers are one victory away from becoming the first back-to-back Champions in 25 seasons.

Friday’s thrilling 3-1 victory over the Blue Jays in Toronto now evens the series at 3-3 ahead of what will be a monumental contest Saturday evening.

When the Dodgers turned a seemingly improbable double play to end Game 6, manager Dave Roberts appeared to exhale emotionally knowing what’s ahead for his team in Game 7.

A relieved Roberts spoke to the media in the aftermath of the win. Seemingly exhausted yet visibly happy, the skipper broke down how he feels in the moment — as well as a look ahead to what he can expect on Saturday in the decisive contest.

“I feel great. I feel great. We’re just, it’s, we’re going to leave it out there. I don’t think that the pressure, the moment’s going to be too big for us. We got to go out there and win one baseball game. We’ve done that all year. Everyone’s bought in. So I don’t know how the game’s going to play out, but as far as kind of the moment, winning a game, I couldn’t be more excited to get to sleep and wake up to play a baseball game tomorrow.”

Based on the remainder of the postgame presser, it appears to be an all-hand-on-deck situation for the ballclub. The only pitcher that likely will not be available to throw is Friday night’s starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Even with Tyler Glasnow securing the final three outs of Game 6, there’s a realistic possibility that he either starts Game 7 — or pitches multiple innings. The outing on Friday essentially was a heightened ‘bullpen session’ that most starters throw the day before a full start.

It also appears very likely that Shoehi Ohtani gets the ball in some capacity. Having pitched only a few days ago, it would be the shortest turnaround of his career from a pitching standpoint.

Having said that, given the Game 7 situation, conventionality is often thrown out the proverbial window.
