Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Provides Positive Tyler Glasnow Injury Update

The Los Angeles Dodgers are without many key pitchers during this stage of the 2025 season, but one of the most important subtractions from the pitching roster is All-Star Tyler Glasnow.

He was a force during 2024, his first season as an All-Star and first as a member of the Dodgers, posting a 3.49 ERA before being shut down for the year in August. This season has featured a little less command from the right-hander, but shoulder issues were the source of his late-April stint on the injured list.

Glasnow is continuing to ramp up and return to the mound, as the Orange County Register’s Bill Plunkett reported a positive update on his recovery. Plunkett said Glasnow was “throwing off a mound for the first time since his April 27 start when he left the game after one inning and went on the injured list with shoulder soreness.”

Manager Dave Roberts noted the positive insight, despite the All-Star’s bullpen session lasting less than 20 pitches.

“He said he felt great afterwards,” Roberts said. “Don’t know what that means with velocity. But I do know he was getting after it pretty good.”

The return of an All-Star arm to the ailing Dodgers pitching roster would be huge at this point in the season. The 14 pitchers on the injured list represent how much potential is missing from the mound, with an eerie repeat of last season’s struggles.

As the Dodgers punched their ticket to the Fall Classic, only three starting pitchers from the Opening Day rotation were still available. Glasnow, being one of the injured arms, had to sit from afar as the team he played an important role in getting to October lifted the Commissioner’s Trophy.

“It’s extremely frustrating,” Glasnow said last September. “I wanted to come here to win a World Series and pitch in the postseason.”

Although he helped the Dodgers win their eighth title in franchise history, he has yet to see the postseason in a Dodgers uniform. Hopefully 2025 will be different as he continues his recovery process.
