After the game, Roberts revealed that Glasnow was dealing with cramps, leading to his early exit.

“He had cramps in the fifth, in the sixth,” Roberts said. “He hasn’t thrown that many pitches in a month, so I felt that with the cramps, we pushed him as far as I wanted to push him right there.”

Glasnow revealed when he started feeling the cramps and how they affected him.

“Probably at the end of the third-ish inning, or beginning of the fourth,” Glasnow said. “I just tried to put it out of my mind. It didn’t affect anything. … I didn’t think about it too much and it was fine.”

Glasnow was dominant for LA, pitching six shutout innings and allowing just two hits with eight strikeouts. Emmet Sheehan then pitched the seventh, giving up a run to break the scoreless tie.

Fortunately, the Dodgers were able to get one back in the bottom of the seventh, and the teams were scoreless until the 11th when LA won on the walk-off error.

  1. Pitchers are schooled on bunts and hits to first baseman all season long. Getting a forced play at plate after a comeback hit isn’t normal. He should have thrown to first base as they would in practice. Also hurriedly throwing anytime in baseball results in a not so sure result! Weird way to win a game but those things do occur in regular season games and especially playoffs. The errant throw to home did not matter. Runner would have been safe barely but safe by a foot or so. Very Happy Dodgers move on to Championship games.

    1. Actually Kim missed the plate. Had Realumuto caught the ball he likely would have hit the plate before Kim could double back. Who knows?

      1. It looked like Realmuto was blocking the plate and it definitely wasn’t clear if Kim had touched home plate. However, the rookie did go back and touch home just in case.

  2. When Vesia dodged the bullet of blowing the tie in the top of the 11th I knew the Dodgers would win in the bottom of the 11th. Roberts decision to being in Vesia was very questionable because Vesia has been inconsistent and usually never completes a 1-2-3 out inning meaning he ends up giving up a hit or a walk. The Dodgers were fortunate the pitcher panicked and threw home and not to first.
