Dodgers’ Dave Roberts Reveals Why He Loves Tommy Edman
Los Angeles Dodgers star Tommy Edman made an impact as soon he was in the lineup. The utility man not only provided the Dodgers with flexibility on where he could play, but he’s since emerged as one of team’s best hitters.

After joining the Dodgers at the trade deadline last season, Edman was named the National League Championship Series MVP — recording 11 RBIs and hitting .407 — just a few months later.
Beyond being an offensive force for the Dodgers, Edman has bounced between second base and centerfield this season as the team did not have everyday starters for either position to open the 2025 campaign.
Edman is slashing .238/.277/.477 with eight home runs, 26 RBIs and an OPS of .754. The utility man ranks positive in Outs Above Average, an impressive feat for the Dodgers star since he goes back and forth between the infield and outfield.
Manager Dave Roberts spoke about Edman’s value to the Dodgers, and how his absence while he was on the injured list was certainly noticeable.
“I noticed he was gone,” Roberts said. “But that is true. I think if you look at every win that he’s in the game, he is one of those guys that there’s something he did to help you win. There really is, whether it’s in the box score or not. I love those players, and he just kind of prides himself on that.”
