Dodgers Release Chris Taylor in Shocking Move

The Los Angeles Dodgers have released utility man Chris Taylor. Taylor did not have a locker in the clubhouse ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the Los Angeles Angels.

This season, Taylor was slashing .200/.200/.257 with two runs batted in and an OPS of .457 across 28 games. The 2025 campaign was Taylor’s 10th season with the Dodgers.

The Dodgers are expected to activate Tommy Edman off the injured list Sunday. With the Dodgers star back in the lineup, the team had to make room for Edman on the roster.

Taylor’s departure comes as quite the shock as he is the Dodgers’ longest-tenured position player. The Dodgers designated Austin Barnes for assignment earlier this week, and it’s clear now more than ever the Dodgers are focused on winning — and nothing else.

The message becomes increasingly clear for bottom of the roster players: Produce and perform because there is no room for ineffectiveness. The Dodgers are in the midst of a tight division race, and it’s absolutely imperative every man on the roster is ready to make an impact.

If the Dodgers’ intentions weren’t clear before, they certainly are now. In L.A, winning is all that matters.

  1. Shocking move! LOL How about “longtime Dodger Chris Taylor released to make room for Tommy Edman”? Without the clickbait title. The fact that this wasn’t done weeks ago is shocking.

  2. Sad to see, but shocking? Valentina clearly hasn’t been paying much attention if she finds his release shocking. I wasn’t even sure if he’s make the team out of spring training. 2 RBIs in mid May? Got to kind of expect it.

Tip of the hat to Chris for his contributions in case he’s watching and I wish him well. I’m sure it hurts like hell but presumably he enjoyed his 12 years in the big leagues and is set for life financially with what is shown to be in excess of 70M in earnings.

  3. I for one, truly hate to see these players that have meant so much to the team go. But… in the end you’d have to be blind not to see this coming. Looks like the division race is going to be a dog fight and contributions will be needed from every spot on the roster. Still, again, I hate to see them go and wish the best for them.

  4. Off the subject, why do we sign pitchers that don’t produce.yates,Scott send them packing, hand the ball to those that secured a world series last year .perhaps should have kept the one who pitched the final inning last year .oh wait, let him go so you can sign A candy ass who hasn’t pitched yet in 1966 Koufax won 27 games.all were complete games I’ll bet the staff combined didn’t have 5 complete games.money has taken the desire out of players to be the athletes of yesteryear.ten dollars raise,I’ll leave.name on the uniforms used to mean something to players.still does for most.u can’t ask billionaire owners to understand things other than money. Sad sad sad..

    1. I think your analysis Bob, is a little harsh. Yates and Scott have, for the most part, been solid. And the rest of the bullpen is near exhaustion. If the Dodgers want their pitchers to be injury free, they need to have less focus ion spin and speed and more focus on command and control. The slider is a great pitch when thrown correctly. When not thrown correctly it is a bain on the muscles and r of the elbow and shoulder. Look at the pitchers on the IL and tell me how many use the slider (or sweeper) as their primary out pitch. Yamamoto throws it correctly, overhand just like Koufax used to pitch. Three quarter or side arm will lead to stress on the elbow and shoulder and stunts in the IL or surgery or both. The arm is a rotating joint, not a lever. Until the Dodgers teach correct pitching mechanics, pitchers will just be cannon fodder to use amd abuse and keep making Dr ElAttrache rich…. Sad, but true
