Dodgers Designate RHP Shane Greene For Assignment

The Dodgers had to make a few different moves this week to get fresh arms in. That included activating Mitch White and David Price from the COVID injured list for the Arizona series. But in order to do that, some sacrifices needed to be made.

Part of that was optioning Caleb Ferguson to Triple-A one day after his season debut. Chances are that Ferguson will be back with the big league soon since they just needed fresh arms for the long stretch of games. But the Dodgers also had to clear a 40-man roster spot.

To do that, they desinated Shane Greene for assignment. It was the second time that Greene has received the DFA with the Dodgers since he signed with the team last year. He appeared in one game this year and tossed two scoreless innings.

The Dodgers needed to make room on the roster, and Blake Treinen isn’t anywhere close to being ready. They moved him to the 60-day injured list and he is not expected to be ready to go until after the All-Star break.

In terms of prospects, there are very few bats hotter than Michael Busch. The Dodgers number 3 prospect was tearing up Double-A pitching, and that earned him a promotion to the Oklahoma City team this week.
