Dodgers Expected to Meet With Free Agent Juan Soto in Southern California: Report

The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to be one of several teams to meet with free agent Juan Soto in Southern California next week, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post. The San Francisco Giants, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, New York Yankees, and two other unknown teams are believed to be making the trip to visit the Dominican star as free agency gets underway.

The Soto sweepstakes is the most popular headline of the offseason. Every move has been reported and will continue to be until the 26-year-old signs the dotted line. Soto signing with the Dodgers won’t be possible unless he is willing to return to the west coast.

Soto was traded from the San Diego Padres in 2023 to the Yankees. At the time, it was reported that the star preferred to be on the east coast. If the geographical preference still remains, there is a slim chance of the Dodgers adding Soto the lineup.

However, among the teams that are interested in Soto, the Dodgers have the most to offer. Not only do the Dodgers have three former MVP’s in Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freedie Freeman, but team is also rumored to be the favorite to sign Japanese phenom Roki Sasaki, which only adds an incentive for Soto to sign with the Dodgers. After the World Series concluded, Soto insisted the Yankees didn’t have the upper handing in signing him.

“We’re going to be available to every team. I feel like every team has the same opportunity,” Soto said after Game 5. “I don’t want to say anybody has the advantage because, at the end of the day, we’re going to look at what we have and how much they want me.”

“I’m really happy with the city, with the team. But at the end of the day, we will see,” he said. “We’re going to look at every situation, every offer and [make] a decision from there.”

If Soto is interested in returning west, then the Dodgers certainly have the most to offer.

  1. Lets not sign Soto. Resign all the fellas from 2024 and add some starting pitching. Then we run it back in 2025.

    1. Yep, I agree CC, apply that money to multiple positions that could be upgraded. To many cooks spoil the broth. To many super stars spoil the chemistry.

      1. Yep, I’m jumping on this band wagon too. Just say no to Soto. Yeah he’s a good player but he’s not 700 million good!
Yes to resigning last years team, especially Teoscar Hernandez, Blake Treinen, and Kike Hernandez. And of course prioritize some quality reliable pitchers!

  2. No to Soto. He’s not a good fit with the club have. Dave was able to get us all the way because of the character of these players. Soto would disrupt that and not in a good way.

  3. Also, no to Soto. Offense is already good enough. Resign Teo, keep Kike and Edmand. Get two starters between Burnes,
Snell and Fried. This team is good enough as is…Shore up the starting rotation and get another trophy.
