Dodgers Fall Way Back in Latest MLB Power Rankings

It’s been a long time since the Dodgers were not on top of the MLB power rankings. In fact, they’ve been in that position since the preseason rankings came out prior to the 2020 season. That was when the team acquired Mookie Betts from Boston.

Today, the Dodgers lost their spot on top of the MLB power rankings. The Boston Red Sox are at number 1 after a surprising 22-13 start to the season. Alternatively, Los Angeles fell all the way back to number 7 in the rankings

The drop comes after a week of very disappointing losses for the Dodgers. They dropped 3 straight against the Cubs and lost 2 0f 3 against the Angels this weekend. Overall, Los Angeles has fallen to 18-17 and are now in third place in the NL West.

The Giants and Padres managed to stay in the top 5 of the power rankings. The Dodgers will play 2 games against the Mariners starting on Tuesday before taking on the Marlins at home over the weekend. The good news is that this week is a great time to turn things around.

Seattle is a tough matchup on paper, but the Marlins haven’t had a whole lot of success early this year. Winning 3 out of 5 games this week isn’t entirely out of the realm of possibilities for the Dodgers. And that would be huge.

  1. Any time you are “hoping” to win 3 out of 5 against the Mariners and Marlins at home, you can’t consider yourself a serious contender. That is not huge. Huge is winning 3 out of 5 against the Padres or the Giants at this point.

    1. Right on! And to be honest, Dodgers could very well lose 4 out of their next 5. Marlins have had some good pitching so far and ya know what that may mean. Besides, Roberts will do what he does as far as lineups and BP usage.

  2. Next week out of Top 20! 17 losses already, when last yr. had total of 17 losses all yr. albeit 60 game season (43-17). I suspect something is going on in the clubhouse…..Idk but the mojo is not right…..a shake-up of something or a hard face to face hash it all out conversation is needed.
