Dodgers Fans React to the JD Martinez News
The Los Angeles Dodgers got themselves a well-needed bat yesterday as they signed 12-year veteran J.D. Martinez to a one-year $10 million contract.
The 35-year-old is coming off an All-Star season with the Boston Red Sox, where he was the DH for all 139 games he played.
Dodgers fans aren’t happy with how this offseason has unfolded for them, but some fans are excited to see J.D. in Dodger blue.
Nice!! I was praying we’d make this move at the deadline last season but better late than never. He’s come through in the postseason before too ??

$10 million. That's a steal. JD is a solid slugger. Worth the sign.

It’s a good signing. Even if it means Turner won’t be coming back.

While some fans are happy to see Martinez don a Dodger uniform, others are upset that it could mean the end of Justin Turner’s time in Los Angeles.
I guess that means JT is gone because I don't believe they can carry both. Makes me sad that my favorite Dodger since Garvey doesn't get to retire in LA?

Turner is currently a free agent.
Martinez will take sole claim of the DH spot for the Dodgers. Turner, Max Muncy, and Will Smith split time in the first year of the universal DH in 2022.
Now, it’s all Martinez, and we hope he can bring his consistent play and slugging numbers to Chavez Ravine.
Welcome to Los Angeles, J.D.!

Welcome to Blue Heaven, J.D.! We should have signed you a few years ago!!! Good luck to JT. thanks for a strong decade of play!!! Go beat up on the TRASHTROS!!!
So we lose the glue guy (Turner) and replace him with a guy who basically sits around all day polishing his bat.
All these moves are Gambles as are ALL moves regardless of cost. If our moves are duds it’s not a big deal. If the Padres moves turn out bad – it’s a front office “Blood Bath” .
Several years ago it was Kiki. This year it is JT. My favorite Dodgers are now down to Kersh and the Fresh Prince.
JT superior in clutch hitting
You’ll see when his fly outs are caught instead of going for hrs like in the green monster. JD Stays will suffer big time
