The Dodgers had struggled to put together good at-bats throughout the game, but managed to escape their matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies on a shocking play.
Andy Pages hit a comebacker to Phillies reliever Orion Kerkering and he opted to throw home instead of first. The ball went passed J.T. Realmuto, letting Hyeseong Kim score to secure the Dodgers’ NLDS victory.
Perhaps the most pivotal performance of the night came from Roki Sasaki, who tossed three perfect innings in relief for the Dodgers.
Here’s how fans reacted to the insane turn of events at Dodger Stadium.

To be honest I have to feel for the Phillies pitcher. The Phillies are a very good team and to lose a one run game on an error is a hard way to lose. Their pitcher is a very good pitcher and I hope he will get I over the loss by next season. I am certainly happy the Dodgers are in the National League championship series. Go Dodgers.
Totally agree! I’m beyond thrilled that the Dodgers are advancing, but – What a way to get it done. Not exactly a “sweet” victory….
I think regardless the way the Dodgers won it was great. Hey that’s the way the ball bounces. If it was another team, I might have felt bad, but it was the Phillies, the one team I love to hate. Trust me I am no hater of any sort, but the “Whiz Kids” will cheap shot you every chance they get. And trust me that includes their announcers. Especially after their game show with three Philly characters CRYING UP A STORM WHEN THEY LOSE.
WAY TO GO DODGERS!!!
That was the most “skin of their teeth” play-off win in Dodger history. I am glad to see it and hope we can pull off the next round victory as well but….wouldn’t we score MORE RUNS if our #3 hitter had an OBP over .285? I know Teoscar is an RBI magnet but he just wiffs too much (on ball 4,5 or even 6) to be that high up in the line-up. Freeman (.367) or Will Smith (.404) would be more likely to produce runs. Pages is in a slump right now, but even he had a season-long OBP of .314. Just a thought, Mr. Roberts.
Definitely a shaky game. Once Ohtani and Pages get moving, though, it’ll be hard to stop these Dodgers
Honestly, the most notable player that’s been slumping is Shohei Ohtani. Entering Thursday’s game, he was 1-for-14 with seven strikeouts. Hopefully, he turns a corner in the NLCS.
The Dodgers didn’t “win.” The Phillies lost. It’s important to keep in that mind as the NLCS approaches because that kind of “luck” can’t be expected to keep winning for them. They outlasted the Phillies by the skin of their teeth, and it won’t get easier moving forward, no matter how pundits have said this series was the real WS. This could have just as easily been going back to Philadelphia tied at 2-2. For goodness sake, they had Treinen warming up in the bullpen to come out in the next inning. And along the same lines, why does Roberts take out Glasnow as is his pattern of continually taking out his starting pitchers when they’re going good. This time he says it was an injury-related reason. But I’m not sure he’s just saying that to rationalize a poor decision making move, knowing the criticism that will come his way. He makes that move often enough to cast doubt on his motives. How many times does the same scenario have to present itself, with the same consequences? He scares me with these kinds of “strategies”, no matter what Betts says about him being the best manager he’s had.
