Dodgers Farm System: OF James Outman Named to MiLB Prospect Team of the Week

The Dodgers have plenty of young talent to watch at the minor league level this year. They may not be Major League ready, but there are quite a few good players that should be debuting within the next few years.

One guy that Dodgers fans should be on the lookout for is James Outman. They got a quick look at him in Spring Training this year, but Outman has been pretty good at Double-A Tulsa in 2021. He’s slashing .371/.466/.677 with a ridiculous 1.143 OPS in 15 games played since being promoted.

This week, the Dodgers number 27 prospect was named to the MiLB Prospect Team of the Week. This comes after 6 games where he slashed .462/.533/.962 in 6 games played. Outman hit 3 homeruns and 4 doubles while drawing 4 walks as well.

The Dodgers took Outman in the 7th round of the 2018 draft out of Cal State Sacramento. He was initially known for his speed and defensive prowess, but his bat has really started to shine since being drafted 3 years ago.

Most experts have him being big-league ready for the Dodgers by 2022, but those predictions obviously don’t always hold up. But if this transition to Double-A has not proven to be an issue, it will be interesting to see him climb through the system.

In 17 Spring Training games this year, Outman picked up 5 hits snd displayed pretty good speed in the outfield.
