Dodgers: Former LA Star Makes His Super Bowl Pick

Super Bowl week is officially here. As MLB remains entrenched in an ugly war-of-words over the CBA negotiations, the NFL is ramping up for their ultimate showcase game. Newly retired former Dodgers first baseman Adrián González made his pick last week for Sunday’s Rams-Bengals game in an interview with AM570’s David Vassegh.

González is pulling for the hometown Los Angeles Rams and in particular, superstar Aaron Donald.

“That’s a hard one. I would like to see Aaron Donald win the Super Bowl. From a fan perspective, I really like everything he did in the [NFC] Championship Game.”

Like many of us, González watched Donald force the interception in the NFC Championship game that sealed the win for the Rams. The Rams postseason victory over the San Francisco 49ers was all the more sweeter for fans who support both the Dodgers and the Rams. It’s not often that LA teams eliminate their Bay Area counterparts in two sports in a four-month window.

González hedged his bet by admitting that Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is more than capable of beating the Rams and win his first Super Bowl.

“But, I guess you can never count out Joe Burrow. He’s a winner. He won at LSU, he’s was hot last year and was winning until he was out, he’s got something special with him.”

As fate would have it, the Rams will be hosting the Bengals at Sofi Stadium, their home turf. González, along with the rest of the Rams faithful, will be rooting for LA and Aaron Donald to take home their first Super Bowl title in Los Angeles.
