Dodgers Foundation Partners With Helping Hands to Deliver Thousands of Meals in LA

The Dodgers are always active and involved in helping out the community in whatever way they can. This past week, the Dodgers Foundation partnered with Helping Hands to feed thousands of families in need this past Tuesday in Inglewood.

More from the Dodgers Press Release on Monday:

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) will?partner?with Helping Hands Community tomorrow to deliver?16,000 meals directly to the homes of?300 families in Inglewood who are registered?in their?Dodgers RBI sports-based youth development program.?LADF continues to address the needs?of communities suffering?the most support during this pandemic,?as outlined by their?COVID-19?Needs Assessment.?

From loss of household income to the loss of positive social environments for their kids, families shared that their needs are vast and vary across neighborhoods.?Through their Dodgers RBI COVID-19 needs assessment, LADF learned that 59% of families are experiencing a decrease of income due to the pandemic and families are concerned for the social, emotional, physical, and mental wellness of their children.

With over 80% of Dodgers RBI youth eligible for free and reduced lunch at their schools, families rely on school-based food programs. With Helping Hands Community, LADF is focusing on Dodgers RBI youth in smaller school districts like Inglewood who noted they have less access to ‘grab and go’ centers. The food deliveries will consist of dairy, fruit and vegetable boxes and will arrive directly at each family’s home.

Volunteers supporting the event include members from Helping Hands Community, LADF Field Champions, LADF Parent Advisory Team, and Dodger employees.
