Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman Exits Sunday’s Game After Hit By Pitch in Concerning Development

Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman exited Sunday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers after getting hit by a pitch on the wrist.

Freeman didn’t react much, but walked straight to the dugout and went down into the locker room.

Freeman was 0-for-2 with two strikeouts before being struck by an 88 mph sinker by Brewers southpaw Jose Quintana on Sunday. His official diagnosis from the team was a left wrist contusion.

Freeman has an unfortunate history with his left wrist. In 2017 as a member of the Atlanta Braves, the first baseman was forced to miss 10 weeks after fracturing his wrist from a hit by pitch.

The nine-time All-Star entered Sunday hitting .294/.365/.474 with an OPS of .839. He leads the National League in doubles (26) despite batting just .201 since the start of June.

Freeman has been battling adversity, both on and off the field since last July. From a broken finger, a sprained ankle mere days before the start of the 2024 postseason, and broken cartilage in his rib that he battled throughout October, the reigning World Series MVP hasn’t been fully healthy in quite some time.

As tests will continue to be conducted and the official status of his wrist is yet to be established, Dodgers fans will surely be holding their breath awaiting the news on Freeman.

The same day the Dodgers made a major lineup change with Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani, the last thing they need is Freeman missing significant time.
