Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman Says He’s Not Worried About What Padres Are Doing Yet

After the Los Angeles Dodgers finally took a game from the San Diego Padres on Sunday and got back to the top of the NL West, there was a little more relief to be had in LA.

There is still an immense amount of work to do before the postseason, but nine-time All-Star Freddie Freeman discussed how intently his team is watching the Friars as the race to October intensifies.

“It is a sprint. I’ll be honest with you there. It is a sprint now, obviously,” Freeman said. “But you can’t worry about other teams. Just like, the last couple games, if we don’t fix our offense of how our at-bats were going the last couple days, and we fix it today, get better today, but if you’re worrying about other things, that’s just not conducive, it’s not gonna lead to quality things, positive things in the clubhouse.”

Focusing on the team, and the team only seems to be a smart mindset to have as the home stretch of 2025 is upon us, but the World Series MVP made sure to note when would be an appropriate time to start keeping tabs on the divisional foes.

“So maybe mid-September,” Freeman said. “When I turn 36 (on Sept. 12), we’ll start scoreboard watching.”

With a little over a month left in the regular season, the Dodgers will have to address a few concerns that will likely determine if they get to the postseason as a Wild Card team, or as the presumed NL West winners.

After splitting a four-game set against the MLB-worst Colorado Rockies and losing the first two games against the Friars this past weekend, there is still more to be desired from the Dodgers offense.
