Dodgers: Freddie Freeman vs Paul Goldschmidt, Who is the Real NL MVP?

After being a clear front-runner for the NL MVP award all season long, Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt may have some late-season competition.

Coming off his third NL Player of the Week award earlier this month, Freddie Freeman is scorching hot. As of Friday, he leads the league in batting average, hits and doubles, and has been arguably the best player on the best team in baseball all season long.



So we may have a closer race than we thought.

While Freeman was the winner of the poll, fans in the comments tended to favor Goldschmidt as the MVP.

The Dodgers don’t have much to play for down the stretch, especially once they lock up home-field advantage. We know Freeman doesn’t like taking days-off, but it’ll be interesting to see how much he plays, and if he’ll have a real shot to catch Goldy down the stretch.
