Dodgers: Freddie Freeman vs Paul Goldschmidt, Who is the Real NL MVP?
After being a clear front-runner for the NL MVP award all season long, Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt may have some late-season competition.
Coming off his third NL Player of the Week award earlier this month, Freddie Freeman is scorching hot. As of Friday, he leads the league in batting average, hits and doubles, and has been arguably the best player on the best team in baseball all season long.
So we may have a closer race than we thought.
Fans shared their thoughts on the NL MVP Race on Twitter. Our Doug McKain broke it all down, and gives you everything you need to know on the race:

While Freeman was the winner of the poll, fans in the comments tended to favor Goldschmidt as the MVP.
Here are some of their takes:
If it's a dodgers MVP, it's either between Freddie or Mookie. But NL MVP, Definetly Paul Goldschmidt

I love all the players on this list, but Goldschmidt’s OPS substantially higher than the rest of the candidates. He’s still the favorite for NL MVP, and it’ll take a lot for the others to catch up to him.

Paul Goldschmidt deserves it and should win it.

The Dodgers don’t have much to play for down the stretch, especially once they lock up home-field advantage. We know Freeman doesn’t like taking days-off, but it’ll be interesting to see how much he plays, and if he’ll have a real shot to catch Goldy down the stretch.
