Dodgers: Funeral Services Held For Vin Scully in Los Angeles

It’s almost fitting that the way Vin Scully was remembered was quietly among his close friends and family members. Despite being the titan that he was in sports broadcasting history, Vin never liked the spotlight. He much preferred to put the shine back onto players and fans, being the voice that guided that light for 67 years.

A funeral mass was held for the Dodgers legend this week. The service was at his church in Westlake Village. Just 3 days after the team held an emotional pregame ceremony to honor the icon, a private funeral was held on Monday.

Friends and family attended St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Westlake Village where Vin attended services. The Dodgers’ broadcaster passed away last Tuesday at the age of 94 with so much life lived. Among the known attendants of the mass was Steve Garvey, Nomar Garciaparra, and Ned Colletti.

The Dodgers have seemingly done their best to honor the wishes of Vin’s family in remembering him. While many expected a large funeral akin to that of Lakers legend Chick Hearn, that just wouldn’t have been Vin. We all got to come together on Friday night and remember what he did for this sport and for this team. And that just feels like something Vin would have wanted.

We love you Vin, and we’ll miss out time together, more than you could know.
