Dodgers Have a Plan Ready For When Max Muncy’s Wife Goes Into Labor

The Dodgers are going to have to plan to be without Max Muncy at some point this week. Thankfully, it won’t be for too long and it’s not due to any injuries. That’s something Los Angeles has had to battle all year.

Instead, Max will be going to welcome his first child with his wife Kelly. The Muncy’s are expecting their firstborn to arrive any day now, and Kelly is back in Arizona getting ready. Max admitted this week that it’s hard to focus on baseball right now, but you wouldn’t know it in the books.

When Kelly does go into labor, Max will head out to Arizona to be with her. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that the team does have a plan in place just in case Max has to suddenly take off.

Max has one eye on his wife and his baby, and he’s got one eye on the Dodgers. So basically we brought Zach Reks here as a taxi if Max does have to eject.

Despite probably worrying about his wife and first child, Max has torn up Colorado pitching. The Dodgers slugger had 5 hits in 10 at-bats during the first 2 games of the series, including 2 homeruns and 5 runs driven in on Saturday.

Zach Reks was already with the team before the All-Star break and apparently never returned to Triple-A. He will stay with the team in a taxi squad capacity until he is needed to fill in for Muncy.
